2014-MARCH - kanthale, Sirimangalapura Day-4

After a brief birding session at the Seruwila temple premisses, the site serveying & investigating work was done at the proposed sites. Areas suitable for the proposed model herbal garden and the proposed model Arboretum were identified.

Some Herbal plants were donated to the Kallara, Mawil-Aru army camp. This camp is the head-quarter's of the 22nd platoon, of the Gajaba regiment. Planting of Bamboo trees around the camp was also done in the after-noon.

2014-MARCH - kanthale, Sirimangalapura Day-3

The English classes continued on to day 3 for the kids. A workshop to demonstrait 'how to make quality spoons out-of discarded coconut shells' was conducted for a few local craftsmen.
Prof. Piyal Marasinghe joined the team as an invitee consultant, to investigate the proposed land at the Seruwila temple, in which a herbal garden & Arboratum is proposed to be created.

Audio-visual presentations were done to educate the kids at the Library, while a workshop was conducted to a few interested mothers, in icing-cakes, Sari-working and making bouquets.

2014-MARCH - kanthale, Sirimangalapura Day-1


DAY ONE : of the Kanthale trip

The Main Objective of the trip was to gather information & investigate the site, for the proposed model Herbal Garden & Arboratum project, at the Seruwila Maha Vihara (Temple). Also donating Herbal plants & planting of Bmboo trees at the Kallarea Army camp was another objective.
Sue & Micheal from UK also accompanied the team, to follow-up the preperations for their on-line English course.
The Elephant orphanage at Pinnawala was visited on the way to Kanthale. English Language educating games & activies were conducted for the kid of the "Pipena Kusum" (Blooming Buds) home library at Sirimangalapura.
